Rotary District Conference | District 5910 | April 5-7, 2019

Be the Inspiration!

What inspires you to be a Rotarian? District Governor John Hathaway’s 3 Peas in a Pod is the theme for his year and the cornerstone for his conference: Peace, Polio and Participation. The Woodlands, a master planned community, as the venue for this year’s district conference, is an escape from the everyday for our guests and an inspirational backdrop where all people can live, work, play and worship.

Rotary is not just about service above self – it is about having fun. At this year’s conference, we will not only provide inspirational speakers and programs for Rotarians, we are also offering activities for the children of Rotarians. This allows you to be engaged not only with the conference but with your family as everyone enjoys the amenities of The Woodlands.

The tranquil setting of this year’s conference is a staycation for some and a getaway for others. The Marriott is just steps away from exceptional shopping experiences, miles of walking paths, golfing, trolley, kayaking, swan paddle boats, the Children’s Museum, wine tasting flights and much more. There is lots to do without even getting into your car! This blend of urban Houston life and the Piney Woods of East Texas is a favorite destination regionally and internationally.

Start your weekend by exploring the unique offerings of The Woodlands, ending with an evening under the stars listening to Texas Country recording artist and song writer Max Stalling while enjoying bar-b-que on The Woodlands Waterway. Saturday brings inspirational speakers in the areas of Peace, Polio and Participation, along with this year’s Youth Exchange students sharing stories of their time in Texas, and paying homage to those Rotarians we have lost this past year. We pay tribute to our Rotary International president, Barry Rassin, with a Bahamian themed Evening Gala- think Bermuda shorts - complete with steel drum band, announcement on our polio fund raising goal (look for a possible DG beard shaving) and welcoming this year’s Roll of Fame inductees. Hospitality suites are always a hit after the gala. Cap off the conference weekend on Sunday morning with an ecumenical prayer service followed by a hearty Texas breakfast while recognizing Rotarians and the accomplishments of the district’s clubs over the past year.
